One of the things that I love about my life is that I take summers off. My husband is a teacher, so the entire family gets to travel, play and discover new things ever summer. It also gives me some "empty" space and time, which is something I really believe in. Empty space, doing nothing, stepping away from the addiction to being busy,... even stepping away from computers and social media; I find it very valuable. Intentionally creating empty space is part of my personal recipe for a happy, successful life.
One of the things I got to do this summer was travel through the John Muir Wilderness backpacking with friends. It was incredible - and some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen. We encountered many unexpected 'adventures' along the trail, and it was those unexpected adventures that made this one of my all-time favorite backpacking trips. I was reminded by the quote by G.K. Chesterton:
"An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered; an adventure is an inconvenience rightly considered."
Now, as I return to my "normal" life (of work, chores, volunteering, taking out the trash, raising another human, saving for retirement, grocery shopping, building my marriage, eating healthy, etc), I am considering this quote at an even deeper level. I'm looking at what irritates and inconveniences me, and how I can 're-frame' those parts of my life to experience more adventure (which is something I love). Finding adventure is just one of the ways that I'm going to live intentionally over the next few months.
Now, It’s almost Fall (My favorite time of year!) and the time of year that always feels like the “new year” to me, as my husband and son go back to school. It’s a time for slowing down, making new goals, choosing new actions, and becoming more of the person I want to be. If you feel the same way I do about Fall – I want to offer you a Coaching special!
I find that my clients succeed the best when they commit to Life Coaching for about 3 months. This seems like the 'magic' amount of time to discover and shift into new thoughts and habits that will create lasting results. If you want to grow yourself, your business, or your relationships - I am confident that together we can succeed!
